Beer, Brats, and Backpacks Readies Local Kids for the School Year!

08/21/2014

Cannon offices were filled with cheers and laughter as those attending Thursday’s Beer, Brats, and Backpacks played board games, filled up on bratwurst and brought in backpacks, notebooks, and other goods to donate to local school children.

While Beer, Brats, and Bikes (BB&B) is a regular event hosted by Cannon for clients and employees, this was the first official “Beer, Brats, and Backpacks.” This new approach to BB&B centered on the idea that people could get together and have fun while collecting school supplies for local kids in need. “We wanted to do a little more than during this BB&B,” noted Liz Moody, one of the event organizers, “it only seemed natural to bring in board games and ask participants to bring in school supplies to donate. While I figured it would be a good turnout, I was shocked by the generosity!” In all, participants donated more than 15 backpacks, over 200 notebooks, 100 binders, and countless pencils, crayons, colored pencils, and other supplies to help local kids start off the school year on the right foot!

A huge “thank you” goes out to all who participate in the day’s event and to all who generously donated supplies. Of special note, is a donation made by Logan Toke who provided many of the binders and notebooks after telling a local supply store that he was attending our event! Way to go Logan!
