Overview

As a major gateway from the Central Valley, the 46 East Corridor has experienced significant increases in traffic levels over the last decade. To mitigate further anticipated traffic increases, the City of Paso Robles is constructing major improvements to the southbound US 101 / 46 East connection in order to compliment the Caltrans 46 East Corridor improvements.

Funded through a grant from the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) administered by San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG), the project entails the following features: installation of an additional southbound left turn lane from the 46 East onto southbound US 101; construction of a second lane at the southbound on-ramp to US 101 and an auxiliary lane; abandonment of the existing off-ramp at 16th Street, and installation of a new on/off ramp and signalized intersection at 17th Street; widening of the 13thStreet Bridge; installation of Type 60 (Mod) Barrier; new road construction; street enhancements; reconstruction of four signalized intersections; and ramp meter installation.
