Under the original design, the majority of the produced water from the offshore Point Pedernales Field was disposed of by injection onshore at the Lompoc Field. The remainder of the produced water was returned to Platform Irene for injection into the reservoir. Because the Lompoc Field was pressuring up, Plains Exploration and Production Company (PXP) needed to find methods for disposing of the additional produced water. Cannon was chosen to provide engineering design services for the produced water handling system.
Possible solutions included separating and treating up to 20,000 bpd at Platform Irene for offshore injection; treating up to 80,000 bpd at the onshore facility (LOGP) anticipating future expansion for potential beneficial onshore use; and polishing up to 40,000 bpd of water returned to Irene from the LOGP for ocean outfall. The scope of work included a completely engineered project ready for permitting, procurement and installation.Back to Service
