Overview

Cannon was selected to provide structural design services for the new Engineering and Design Facility.  The project includes an 18,850 square foot building that features classrooms, labs, offices, a work room, restrooms, and storage.  The roof elevation transitions to a lower elevation at the gallery.  The project also features site structures such as an information kiosk, monument sign, and gathering arbor.  Cannon provided project services in three phases that include Initial Design Documents, Construction Documents, and Bidding & Construction Administration.  Cannon participated in a BIM review for the project to deliver a clash-free building model.  Documents for this project required rigorous Division of the State Architect (DSA) approval requirements.  Unique engineering features included: decorative concrete masonry bearing wall system; full height insulating, light-transmitting wall system; and special concentrically braced steel frames.  Construction bids for this project met the client’s fixed budget.
