When a statewide water company became aware of a plan for “rolling blackouts” in hazardous fire areas, they immediately started planning for back-up power in the form of generators. Both stationary generators and connections for mobile generators were needed to provide emergency power at seven of their critical water production facilities. This procurement would help protect their service area and improve water system reliability in times of power outage.
The Cannon Electrical Engineering team evaluated the seven sites and provided appropriate generator size and automatic transfer switches for each site; sizing reports review for mobile generators; electrical calculations; conduit and wire distribution design; and compatible transformer specifications and electrical distribution design.
The Cannon Structural team prepared the seismic calculations, as well as the construction drawings and specifications for concrete foundations for stationary generators, fuel storage, transfer switches, and new transformers.Back to Service
