As a result of steady enrollment, the library at Cal Poly Pomona needed to expand in order to meet the needs of its students and staff. The University Library houses a collection exceeding three million items in 205,000-square-feet of floor space. This library expansion required adjustments to the campus’ pedestrian and vehicle traffic paths, plus landscape and utility improvements to accommodate the expansion and give improved access to other buildings.

Cannon provided civil engineering design and survey services for the Cal Poly Pomona Library. Services included topographic survey, aerial mapping, demolition, horizontal control, and sewer, water, and fire service plans. Additional services include a hydrology study, precise grading plan, erosion control plan, composite on-site utility plan, and the preparation of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) report, a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), and a Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP). The pedestrian/vehicle path services included civil engineering design and survey services for removal of an existing road and creation of an ADA – compliant pedestrian walkway. Cannon facilitated project management and coordination and provided on-site construction observation.
