Cannon was selected to provide planning and surveying for the construction of this new 104,000 square foot Costco facility in San Luis Obispo. The scope of work included public representation of Costco during approval process of the development plan through the City of San Luis Obispo’s Architectural Review Committee, Planning Commission, and City Council; permitting assistance related to environmental issues, local representation and technical support such as visual simulations, processing technical memos or integrating traffic, and engineering information.
Calle Joaquin Road is a four lane, secondary arterial, on the west side of Los Osos Valley Road. As a result of major development along Los Osos Valley Road and Calle Joaquin, and in an effort to create more efficient flow of traffic, the City of San Luis Obispo decided that Calle Joaquin required realignment. Cannon provided engineering, surveying, and planning services. The scope of work included preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and procurement of all permits for the improvements. The project required grading of the entire site (including the road extension, curbs and gutters, sidewalks, culverts and site drainage); drainage calculations for on-site contributing flows for sizing the drain inlets, storm drain pipes and drainage structures; a horizontal control plan/site plan; an abandonment plan; as well as a composite utility plan including on-site layouts for dry utility conduit (electricity, phone, gas and cable television). Cannon also prepared of a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), a Sedimentation and Erosion Control Plan and a Section 404 Individual Permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Army Corps), for impacts to wetlands. During construction, Cannon provided construction management services such as responding to RFI’s and construction inspection.
A major component of this project was the lengthening and realignment of the existing Highway 101 Southbound freeway off ramp. This project also required the significant modification of the intersection of Calle Joaquin and Los Osos Valley Road, including traffic signals, striping and signage. The project required a record data boundary survey and review of hydrologic issues for the area as well as resolution and design of utility conflicts and relocations.Back to Market
