An important element during the planning phase of the Portola Springs neighborhoods project in Irvine, California was the inclusion on open space and parks. The developments are comprised of 20 neighborhood parks with a variety of features and amenities scattered throughout. Greenfield Park offers residents a lap pool, spa, shade structures, children’s’ lot, barbecue and picnic area, half basketball court, and tennis courts.
Cannon was retained to provide civil engineering design and construction administration services for the preparation of a precise grading plan, including storm drain, sewer, water, recycled water, and erosion control. The grading plan set was 14 sheets and processed to approval with the City of Irvine. The Sewer/Water/Recycled Water plan was two sheets and processed to approval with IRWD.
Construction administration services included a pre-construction meeting, field meetings, answer of Requests for Information (RFI’s), shop drawing submittal reviews, plan revisions during construction, review of contractor’s change order request and preparation of estimates of quantities and cost supporting the change, certifications and verification, and as-built record drawings.
Cannon worked closely with Valleycrest Landscape Companies on this “Fast Track” project. The design phase was completed in five months and the construction phase was completed in less than four months. Cannon responded to most RFI’s and shop drawing submittals within 24 hours of the request.Back to Service
