← Back to Plant Compressor Modernization

Overview

With an overarching goal to reduce emissions, a natural gas utility company initiated several infrastructure projects at their compression station facility. These projects would support the modernization of existing compressors for increased efficiency, resulting in fewer emissions.

Cannon served as the client’s project engineer and owner’s engineer for multi-disciplinary design support. In this capacity, Cannon performed engineering and design of the compressor plant’s auxiliary air and water systems and provided civil and structural engineering services. As part of the larger project scope, the owner overhauled and retrofitted four specific compressor units.

Cannon provided structural design and construction engineering services for the platforms and structures needed to support newly installed equipment. We coordinated with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) during the initial design of a previous compressor. We then incorporated elements of the earlier design to the next four compressors, which we modified from lessons learned during the construction phase, to prepare stamped calculations and drawings for the additional unit retrofits.
