Overview

As the City of Morro Bay continues to grow and redevelop, greater system demands have been placed on their infrastructure. With the increasing need to efficiently manage and conserve the City’s water resources, Morro Bay adopted an integrated approach to its water, wastewater, and stormwater master planning, known as OneWater Morro Bay.

The goal of the collection system improvements includes decreased inflow and infiltration and increased capacity for deficient segments of the system. The first phase of implementation included evaluating and prioritizing improvements for inflow and infiltration and replacing the following sewer segments:

  • Sewer main in Main Street, from San Jacinto to SR 41 (1 mile in length)
  • Sewer main in Atascadero Road, from Park Street to Main Street
  • Sewer main in Beachcomber Street, from Yerba Buena Street to Java Street
  • Backyard sewers in the Beachcomber neighborhood.

Cannon was selected to provide engineering analysis and preliminary design, surveying, and easement/right of way acquisitions, as well as coordinating geotechnical engineering services. Cannon scope of services also include preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for the final design; assisting with the bidding phase; and providing engineering support during construction.
