Mammoth Community Water District’s (MCWD) existing wastewater treatment plant required arc flash hazard labels and properly set circuit breaker trip settings. MCWD selected Cannon to conduct an arc flash hazard analysis, provide labels, and perform a coordination study with recommended trip settings for the wastewater treatment plant’s switchboards, MCCs, panels, and disconnects.
Cannon conducted detailed field investigations with MCWD’s assistance to develop accurate single-line diagrams; created models for the data collected in the field; conducted an arc flash hazard analysis, per NFPA 70E-2018, IEEE 1584A-2004, and IEEE 1584-2002 guidelines; and created single line diagrams and scenarios to calculate the worst-case arc flash hazard using SKM Power*Tools power analysis software (SKM) and collected data. We created Arc Flash Hazard labels for each MCC, switchboard, panel, and disconnect based on the worst-case incident energy calculated. Labels indicated incident energy level, arc flash boundary, approach boundaries, and working distance, per NFPA 70E Section 130.5(D).
