Lubrizol Advanced Materials Inc. required the replacement of the existing cooling tower at its Paso Robles plant. Cannon provided laser scan modeling, structural and I & E engineering, and construction administration services for this project, holding downtime to a minimum by using efficient engineering and planning while implementing input from Lubrizol representatives. Scope of services included the review of piping routing and materials selection for potential upgrades.
Cannon established a well-defined communication strategy with the contractor to ensure compliance with the approved construction documents. Electrical and controls engineering services included the preparation of sufficient plans and specifications to obtain a permit to construct the electrical and controls portion of the cooling tower system. Cannon’s Structural Engineering team provided drawings and calculations to obtain a permit and construct the structural portions of the water cooling tower system replacement. The structural design included tank and equipment foundations, pipe supports, and berm design.
Additional services included site visits and coordination, analysis and design of new and existing pipe supports, anchorage of new and relocated equipment, foundation design, building permit submittal, and plan check response.
