Arroyo Grande Creek Waterway Management
Due to historic flooding, the County of San Luis Obispo modified the lower three-mile reach of the Arroyo Grande Creek waterway. The project goals were to increase the creek’s capacity, provide enhanced flood protection for 10-year storm events, enhance water quality, and maintain a healthy habitat for sensitive species. The County selected Cannon to provide survey, civil, and structural engineering, as well as construction management services for the creek enhancement project.
Cannon’s scope of work included design for levee modifications and armoring, floodwalls, vegetation management, sediment removal, habitat enhancement, and other improvements necessary to protect the nearby residents of Oceano. Survey services included aerial mapping, ground densification survey, right-of-way (ROW) and boundary re-establishment, pre-construction record of survey, base mapping, appraisal exhibits, ROW staking, legal descriptions, and survey control. Cannon also developed a phasing plan and construction schedule, assisted during the bidding phase, and provided engineering support during the project’s construction.
