Cannon Fights Hunger with Canned Food Drive and Donations
One in seven Americans struggle with hunger. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, over 42 million people currently experience food insecurity, including a potential 13 million children (read more about this topic here).
That’s why every year in October, Cannon commences our annual Canned Food Drive. Between October 10th and October 28th, employees collected food items and monetary donations totaling $1,100 to give to local food banks.
Three teams competed for the most points over three weeks. Team 1 came in first place with a score of 675 points, followed by Team 2 with 531 points, and finally Team 3 with 508 points. The points system was organized as follows:
- 2 Points: Peanut butter and canned meats
- 1 Point: Canned goods, non-perishable food items, 10-pack Top Ramen
- 1 Point: Every dollar donated to the following organizations:
This successful campaign brought the equivalent of over 800 pounds of food to families in need. A big thank you to everyone who donated to this important cause!
