San Luis Obispo, California, July 31, 2018 – For the eighth year in a row, a team of co-workers, friends, and neighbors, spent the day grilling tri-tip, buttering bread, and scooping beans all in an effort to raise money to help provide access to clean water for those without. Under the campaign name of “Well Worth It” the team raised $9,000 that will go toward clean water projects in cities around the globe including Mozambique, Niger, and Bangladesh. In addition to funding clean water projects, this unique fundraiser also provided donated BBQ dinners to 75 local families and veterans.

Through a partnership with CAPSLO and the Vets Center, Well Worth It supporters were able to buy a dinner for themselves as well as donate dinners to a local family or veteran. Since the Well Worth It Drive-Thru BBQ began, more than 375 dinners have been donated.

Cannon’s Well Worth It Campaign began in 2010 in an effort to raise awareness and funds to provide access to clean water to men, women, and children around the globe who lack access to clean drinking water. To date, the team and community have raised more than $118,000 in funds and have built over 20 wells in villages throughout Africa and Asia.

Cannon would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year’s BBQ. Individuals volunteered their time and businesses throughout SLO County contributed goods and services to this global and local cause. In particular, the Drive-Thru BBQ was made possible in part by Popolo Catering for beans at cost, Grocery Outlet of SLO for discounted salad, CRS for printing services, and countless local companies who purchased dinners for their employees.
