Cogeneration Plant Water Treatment Piping System Upgrade
An oil and gas production company sought to connect piping from a newly purchased cogeneration plant to their field unit in San Ardo. Doing so involved four separate piping connections to allow the field unit to feed reverse osmosis soft water and fresh water to the cogeneration company. The connections also allowed the field unit to receive steam and wastewater from the cogeneration company. A new blowdown system was also designed as a part of this project.
Cannon’s mechanical, structural, automation, and electrical groups developed several design options while working with the client. Together, the team established a successful design and operational arrangement. The scope included a hydraulic model, route selections, road crossing and pipe support details, expansion and seismic design analyses, pressure control equipment design for the new blowdown system, cut-over strategies, updates to the existing control philosophy and site automation systems, a process hazard analysis on the new system, and construction drawings for the project.
