Farragut Avenue Improvements Project
As part of an awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the City of Moreno Valley (City) was able to implement improvements to pedestrian accessibility and expand existing sidewalk networks. The City’s strategic planning goals included public safety improvements, upgrading pedestrian accessibility to ADA compliance, and enhancing the quality of life for City residents. Cannon provided civil engineering and survey services, which included designing sidewalks, curbs, gutters, driveway approaches, drainage, access ramps, utility adjustments, short property walls, missing streetlights, pavement repairs, and accommodations to the upgraded water line on Farragut Avenue from Sherman Avenue to Elsworth Street. Cannon’s survey team provided boundary and right-of-way resolution as well as a detailed topographic design survey.
The project was within the City’s documented CDBG target area boundaries that benefit low and moderate-income persons and the disabled community by improving infrastructure and promoting a better living/business environment. The City received Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding, and the Farragut Avenue project was awarded APWA Project of the Year.
