Ocean Boulevard Seawall Improvements
Storm events of 2017 caused severe storm damage at the ocean front bluff and existing stormwater facilities along Ocean Boulevard. To address the bluff damage, and prevent continued bluff retreat, the City of Pismo Beach secured Emergency Relief funding from the Federal Highway Administration, administered locally through the Caltrans Department of Local Assistance. Cannon provided construction management, inspection, materials testing, environmental and cultural resource monitoring, and administrative services for the project. The scope included extending the limits of bluff stabilization from Morro Avenue to Cuyama Avenue, including reconstructing a damaged storm drain outfall and beach access stairway. It also involved new ADA-compliant bluff-top scenic sidewalks and lookouts extending from Vista Del Mar to Capistrano Avenue South.
