Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment

A Central California Refinery had historically used local well water for their refinery processes. A Reverse Osmosis facility was recommended to improve the quality of refinery boiler feedwater. Cannon was selected to provide engineering design and construction administration services for this grassroots project. Cannon prepared plans and specifications for grading, foundations, structural steel, electrical systems, instrumentation, piping, and equipment layout.

The final reverse osmosis process incorporated an Ionics filtration system and involved the interconnection of the system with a variety of refinery processes. When complete, the system facility had a 400-gpm design capacity. Cannon was involved in each aspect of the project, including conceptual design, process flow diagram development, process and instrument drawing development, site layout, hazard and operability analysis, off plot interconnection of process fluids, and electrical and controls engineering. Cannon was also responsible for the detailed design of the project through developing construction bid packages and bid evaluation. During construction, Cannon provided on-site engineering support and integration of the facility into the refinery operations.
