State Route 46 and U.S. Highway 101 Interchange Improvements Complete

04/21/2014

The City of Paso Robles and the San Luis Obispo Council of Governments are celebrating the successful completion of the Highway 46 and 101 Southbound Interchange project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 14, 2014. The long awaited improvements will greatly enhance transportation efficiency for motorists and bicyclists throughout the area as they traverse between the Central Valley and the Central Coast.

To reduce traffic congestion along U.S. Highway 101 where it intersects with the westbound State Route 46, the City of Paso Robles implemented the following improvements: a second left turn and new auxiliary lanes, a new southbound ramp at 17th and Riverside streets, and widening the 13th Street bridge which crosses U.S. Highway 101. The bridge improvements included bike lanes for multi-modal access and new widened curb returns for truck turning. The 13th Street bridge is one of only three highway crossings that provide transport to the City’s bustling downtown area. This highly anticipated street improvement project began as part of the State Transportation Improvement Plan for 2009/2010.

Cannon worked with the City of Paso Robles, Caltrans, SLOCOG, and contractors providing the construction management of the project.
