Cannon is excited to announce an expanded effort in supporting the next generation of Cal Poly Engineers. After a three-year sponsorship of the Cal Poly Water Lab, Cannon has increased their commitment with Cal Poly’s Civil and Environmental Industrial College as Platinum-level partners.

Since 2017, Cannon has been a proud sponsor of the Cal Poly College of Engineering Water Resources Laboratory, also known as the Hydraulics Laboratory. Used as a teaching lab for both graduate and undergraduate engineering students, the Lab offers equipment to instruct in hydraulic theory.

As a multi-discipline engineering firm, Cannon engineers are working on hydraulic projects that range from recycled water, water supply, watershed management, and construction management of water-related structures. Students can “learn by doing” with the help of real-world engineers as they explore the principles and applications of weir and pipe flow measurement, atmospheric discharge, rainfall-runoff simulation and hydrograph models.

As many of Cannon’s engineers are Cal Poly alumni, this five-year funding partnership offers Cannon the opportunity to give back in a big way. Aiding students in research, instructional materials, competitions, and projects provides opportunity for Cannon to build community relationships and provide guidance to future engineers.
