ASCE Outstanding Civil Engineer in Community Service

On February 28, 2012 at the 6th Annual ASCE Region 9 Awards Dinner, Cannon’s Head of Instrumentation and Controls Jeff Spannbauer received the 2011 Outstanding Engineer in Community Service Award. Designed to recognize the efforts of Civil Engineers who advance the field of civil engineering by involvement in ASCE and Community activities as well as support Student Chapters and students in general, this award was well deserved by Mr. Spannbauer.

An active member of ASCE since 2006, Jeff served as president of the local chapter in 2010. During the last 4 years he has served as a Practitioner Advisor for the Cal Poly student chapter of ASCE and on the Senior Project Review Committee.

Outside of the Civil Engineering world Jeff has exhibited a dedication to service through various organizations. One of those who first implemented Cannon’s “Well Worth It” Program, Jeff has been involved in numerous fundraisers resulting in the funding of 4 water wells in Sub-Saharan Africa over the past 2 years. Jeff is also involved internationally by providing financial support to school children in Liberia through a scholarship program.

Local to the San Luis Obispo area, Jeff enjoys spending time volunteering at Cabrillo Care Center a local rehabilitation center serving seniors, and within the Cannon Organization Jeff is well known for his hard work and dedication, as well as his sense of humor. Jeff was a recipient of Cannon’s 2009 Excellence Award.
