The Cannon Coasters Ride On

07/17/2020

July 17, 2020, San Luis Obispo-—From September 18th to the 20th, the Loose Cannons will be taking off on their annual Cannon Coaster Bike Ride. This year the Loose Cannons and their friends will be riding their bikes 180 miles, much of it along Highway 1, from SLO to Malibu. Despite all the uncertainties in the world today, one point of normalcy for Cannon is the annual Cannon Coaster bike ride.

To date the Cannon Coaster has taken riders from the Oregon border to the Mexico border, split over 6 segments, with the final segment completed last year. Our team of avid cyclists will take on their 7th Cannon Coaster this year, which will restart their quest to this time ride from the Mexico border to the Oregon border.

There will be 24 riders and 2 SAG drivers/supporters on the trip. The cyclist’s daily riding average will be 60 miles of nonstop gorgeous views. The crew will be taking off on Friday morning from the San Luis Obispo Cannon office, with nightly stops in Lompoc and Carpinteria. The Coaster will end on Sunday near Zuma Beach in Malibu.

Lead Cannon Coaster, John Evans, encourages new cyclists to join in, stating, “This year eight of our participants are with us for the first time, so keep the Coaster in mind for next year. We will probably be riding from Carmel to SLO, and if it wasn’t so much fun, we wouldn’t keep doing it. Plus, we get to eat whatever we want at dinner, guilt-free…”
