Las Mujeres Park Open in Guadalupe

10/01/2026

Guadalupe, California — Congratulations to the City of Guadalupe (City) on the grand opening of Las Mujeres Park, marking the completion of a major renovation that transformed the former Central Park into an expanded recreational area for the community.

Funded by a $4.9 million State Parks grant, the project introduced a variety of new and improved amenities, including a playground and skate park, fenced dog park, half basketball court and bocce ball court, outdoor exercise equipment, picnic areas, public restrooms, drinking fountains, and improvements to parking, drainage, and landscaping.

Guadalupe’s beautiful coastal setting inspired several design features, including the skate park dune wall, and the windbreak mounds near the picnic area and playground surfacing. Improvements throughout the park included site demolition and grading, concrete and decomposed-granite paving, storm drain utilities, water and sewer connections, electrical service, fencing, retaining walls, new trees and shrubs, turf, mulch, soil amendments, and irrigation.

Cannon provided construction management and inspection, as well as materials engineering services throughout construction. Cannon coordinated with City staff, the design team, contractor, utility providers, playground impact-testing consultant, and project stakeholders to address field conditions and support timely decisions. Earth Systems supported the project with materials testing and special inspections for grading, utility construction, concrete, reinforcing steel, foundations, walls, and other site improvements.

Named to honor women in Guadalupe, Las Mujeres Park provides an accessible community space for play, exercise, gatherings, and outdoor activity. Job well done to the City of Guadalupe and everyone involved in making the completion of Las Mujeres park a reality!
