Cannon Teams with Local Engineering Society
The previously dormant chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers was recently brought back to life with a new operating board. Of the 23 industry professionals and Cal Poly students in attendance, Toby Turnage of Cannon was granted the position of board chair.
Toby is eager to take on the position and the responsibility that comes with it. When asked he stated, “after [his] successful involvement with the ASME in Colorado, [he’s] really excited about the potential for the Central Coast chapter.” Other board members include Cal Poly professor Jim Meagher as Vice Chair, Katherine Bony as Secretary from Aera Energy LLC, and Dale Rydberg as Treasurer from Freeport-McMoRan Oil & Gas.
Currently, the group is in the process of brainstorming chapter initiatives. The first official meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 6th at Spike’s Pub in San Luis Obispo and will cover topics such as installing regular monthly meeting dates, potential speaker/luncheon prospects, and networking potential. Toby’s greatest ambition with the chapter is to provide an environment that fosters business contacts and internal networking for the good of the group, which is open to membership for anyone interested.
